Engineering chemistry is taught as a compulsory subject to first year UG students of all branches of engineering. The need of the student is diversified, and hence it incorporates a combination of both traditional topics and latest trends in the subject area including emerging areas. The engineering chemistry syllabi end list topics from all the branches of chemistry; viz, inorganic, physical, organic, and material science. Therefore, there is a need for a book that exclusively covers all the topics prescribed by the technical technological universities.

This textbook is organized to meet syllabi requirements of all universities. The primary aim of this book is to enable the students to develop capabilities in self-learning and understanding of concepts. This book consolidates all the topics and presents the concepts in a simple, comprehensive, and illustrative manner. All the chapters are provided with highly descriptive and well-labeled figures. A simple look at a figure will enable the students to grasp the underlying concept description. A particular methodological approach has been followed while dealing with conceptual and theoretical aspects of all the topics. At the end of each chapter enough questions are provided to practice, which will boost the confidence of the learners and give them a feel of the typical questions asked in the examination.

  • A right balance between the theory behind the concepts and their applications
  • A neat and student-friendly visual presentation
  • Rich pedagogy to support and illustrate the material for easy and effective learning
  • Updating the edition with additional concepts like smart material and molecular modeling
